Did you know that the money you put into our weekly collection baskets reach the world? Since 2015, St. Luke’s has donated more than $11,500 to Habitat for Humanity through our tithe of the tithe. Your investment builds homes, communities, and a world of hope for people in Polk, Dallas, and Jasper counties. With your support, Habitat aims to raise funds to serve 300 families in 2018. When we donate, it increases Habitat’s capacity to serve more families and invest in revitalizing neighborhoods. To qualify for home-ownership, families must earn between 30-60% of the area median income and have a need for affordable housing. Families who partner with Habitat purchase their home from Habitat with a 20-30 year affordable mortgage. Families complete 300-400 hours of sweat equity helping build their home and 24 hours of pre-purchase home-buyer education. St Luke partners with other churches in the Catholic Circle of Faith to provide volunteers working on the work-site. Please contact Dave Clarke, [email protected], or Paul Carlson, [email protected], for more information.

Merry Christmas from St. Luke's! Come to Christmas Mass and celebrate with us: 4:30pm (Church) Christmas Eve Children's Mass 4:30pm (Gym) Christmas Eve 6:30pm (Church) Christmas Eve 12:00am Midnight Mass (Carols start at 11:30pm) 9:00am Christmas Day Six-part harmony recorded at St. Luke the Evangelist by Pete Haack for Christmas 2018. This song, also known as The Huron Carol, may be the earliest Christmas carol composed in North America. It was written by Jean de Brébeuf, a French Jesuit missionary to the Huron tribe, presenting the event of Christ's birth in a setting familiar to this people. To quote hymnologist Hugh McKellar, Brébeuf “does not present Christ’s birth as an event which happened far away and long ago, nor does he linger on its details; what matters for him is the immediacy of the Incarnation and the difference it can make in the lives not just of the Huron, but of believers in any culture.”
